A Day In The City

¡Let's discover our city! 馃憢✨

These weeks we are going to discover our cities and learn a lot of useful vocabulary and expressions such as: places in the city, prepositions of place, infinitive of purpose (I go there to…), using must for obligation, and different shops. We will also include some gamification activities and videos to practice. Let’s begin! 馃彊️

We use to + verb to explain why we do something.

We use must when something is necessary or important.

Examples:

  • “You must cross the street carefully.”

  • "You must be quiet in the library"

Remember: after must, use the verb in its simple form (no “to”).

  • “We must study for the test.”

In the city, you can find many shops:

  • Bakery – to buy bread and pastries.

  • Butcher’s – to buy meat.

Do you know about a very special day in Ireland?

It’s St. Patrick’s Day

It happens on March 17th, and everything turns green, with lots of shamrocks and fun all around.

Today, I want to tell you about the Leprechaun, a friendly and mischievous fairy who takes care of his pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. They say that if you catch him, he will grant you three wishes!

In class, we will learn some English words for this celebration:

  • Shamrock (a small green plant) ☘️
  • Leprechaun (a little Irish fairy)
  • Pot of gold (a pot full of gold) 馃嵂
  • Rainbow (the colorful arc in the sky) 馃寛

Then, we will do some fun activities to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day together. Don’t worry, they will be easy, and we will have a great time!
